Jon & Kate Plus 8 will be Kate Plus 8 from now on.  Jon Gosselin was eliminated from the picture by TLC.  According to Eileen O’Neill, TLC’s President and GM, the “recent changes in the family dynamic” call for the show to be recalibrated and refreshed to “keep pace with the family”.
After watching several episodes of the show, pre-split, and seeing how Kate treated Jon, I was certainly more in Jon’s corner than Kate’s.  That is, until Jon’s pre-midlife meltdown.  I’ve seen kids who grew up in extradordinarily strict homes go off the deep end once they were able to get out from under.  That’s what Jon’s behaviors resemble.  His actions are so opposed to the quiet, humble and, yes, henpecked man we saw on the series you might wonder if he has an “evil” twin.
But the surprises keep coming, because after the announcement that he wouldn’t be on the show after November, Jon made a statement saying,  “I regret my conduct since Kate and I separated.  I used poor judgment in publicly socializing with other women so soon”.  Poor judgment?  How about lack of consideration for anyone but yourself?  It is alleged that he has filed papers to  delay the divorce for 90 days.  What’s with that?  Hard to know.  Or not.
O’Neill has also confirmed that the network is “in development for a Kate project for 2010” which, by the way, is not connected to the talk show that Kate is supposedly planning to do.  Waaaay too much Kate.  I don’t see her as a good interviewer, so, after the first couple of airings where she will certainly talk about life with and without Jon there will not be much more of interest. And between her speaking engagements, book promotions, TLC’s “Kate project” and a talk show how much time will she have to be a mom to eight little kids.  I think the Gosselin’s would most likely have accumulated enough bucks for both of them to step away from the limelight for a while and just concentrate on their children.  When the kids are grown Jon and Kate can do whatever the hell they want.

Please, please do not buy Sarah Palin’s book which is about to be released to the tune of 1.5 million copies.  Lest you think Palin suddenly developed enough intelligence to allow her to put together coherent sentences and then form them into paragraphs, she had Lynn Vincent, editor for the evangelical magazine WORLD, ghost write it.  I hope Ms Vincent was well paid for the excruciating effort it must have been.
The reason I ask, nay demand, that you not buy her book is because if, heaven forbid, she actually sells all 1.5 million copies she will make a boat load of money which she can then add to the 6-figure amount she copped for making a speech in China criticizing American foreign policy.  If she comes up with more money-making ventures she may accumulate enough to run a campaign for the presidency in 2012. 
I know any intelligent person would move to Outer Mongolia if Palin came anywhere close to running this country.  So, again I say, DO NOT BUY HER BOOK.  If you are absolutely intent on finding out what she has to say get it from your local library. There are approximately 16,600 public libraries in the US so if everyone who wanted to read it borrowed it from a library 99% of her 1.5 million copies would collect dust in the rock bottom remainders bin.
And, just a bit of information about the picture above. Those are two dead foxes she has draped around her shoulders.  Notice, too, that the idiots behind her are also draped in animal fur.  Palin is in favor of aerial hunting of wolves and bears and spent $400,000 of state money on a media campaign in an attempt to convince Alaskans to support aerial hunting. Guess the people in the picture are those who she was able to convince.

Diane Keaton. Buster Keaton. Are they related?

I think Diane Keaton is great.  I love all of her movies.  But with few exceptions, her wardrobe choices for premieres and red carpet appearance are very…hmmm…different.  She seems such a classy and elegant lady you would think she would dress the part.
But then, I remember that Woody Allen evidently wrote the part of “Annie Hall”  based on an “idealized” version of Keaton and somehow it all makes perfect sense.

Katherine Heigl and her mother Nancy founded the Jason Debus Heigl Foundaton in memory of Jason Heigl, Nancy’s son and Katherine’s brother who was killed in a car accident in 1986 when he was fifteen years old. The website states that:  “ Jason loved all animals, especially dogs, cats, and monkeys, and lived his short life extending compassion and kindness to all creatures”.
 The foundation’s goal is to “ raise awareness of inhumane treatment of animals, support non-profit rescue efforts, assist homeless shelter animals with rescue and medical treatment, fund and encourage free spay/neuter clinics, place rescue dogs and cats in loving homes, and educate the public about the horrors of puppy mills and dog fighting”.  To donate to this worthy cause go to: www.jasonheiglfoundation.com.

It has taken a few months, but Katherine Heigl and her musiician husband Josh Kelley are now able to hold the darling 10 month old Korean baby girl they adopted.  They have named her Nancy Leigh after Heigl’s mother, Nancy and her sister, Margaret Leigh.  The little girl has been nicknamed Naleigh. 
Naleigh is a special needs child which, according to Heigl, made the adoption process move much faster.  Heigl said:  “They wanted to get her to us as quickly as possible”.
Adoption is not a new idea for Heigl.  She has always been set on adopting a child and even asked Kelley is he was ok with the idea before they became engaged.  She said:  “I just wanted to make sure that I was marrying a guy who understood that this was going to have to happen.”
Heigl’s sister, Meg, is also Korean and was adopted by Heigl’s parents before Heigl was born.

To Wong Foo Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar

After battling pancreatic cancer for more than a year and a half Patrick Swayze died peacefully, surrounded by family. 
Swayze started his career as a Broadway dancer.  His first major film role was in The Outsiders in 1983 and he appeared in almost 50 films and television series episodes in a successful career that spanned 30 years.
Some more of his many memorable films were  Dirty Dancing, Ghost, and To Wong Foo Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar.  Handsome, physically graceful, able to play tough guy, sexy leading man, heartbreaking apparition, or drag queen, Swayze was a versatile and talented actor.  He brought decency and dignity to everything he did.
Even after being diagnosed with cancer, Swayze continued acting.  He completed an entire season of a new televisions series, The Beast, which aired on A&E in January, 2009.  The series was cancelled after the first season due to Swayze’s failing health. 
To quote a line that Sam said to Molly in Ghost:  “It’s amazing Molly.  The love inside, you take it with you.  See ya”.
You made us laugh and cry, made our hearts throb and broke our hearts.  You will be missed, Patrick Swayze.

Everyone knows 36 year old actor Paul Walker as “Brian O’Conner” in the fantastically famous film series Fast & Furious, but did you know that Walker began his career at the age of two when he starred in a television commercial for Pampers?
Walker’s first film appearance was a small part in the 1987 movie Monster in the Closet.  His first feature film was a co-starring role in the 1998 Disney movie Meet the Deedles. But it was in 2001 that he got the big break when he starred, with Vin Diesel in the first of the Fast & Furious films, and it’s been the good life ever since.
His success seems to be something he enjoys but he was quoted in Flaunt Magazine as saying, “You know, all that really matters is that the people you love are happy and healthy.  Everything else is just sprinkles on the sundae”. 
Hot, hot, hot and a seemingly loving, caring guy.  Couldn’t ask for more than that!
