The Outsiders
Dirty Dancing
Ghost
To Wong Foo Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar
After battling pancreatic cancer for more than a year and a half Patrick Swayze died peacefully, surrounded by family.
Swayze started his career as a Broadway dancer. His first major film role was in The Outsiders in 1983 and he appeared in almost 50 films and television series episodes in a successful career that spanned 30 years.
Some more of his many memorable films were Dirty Dancing, Ghost, and To Wong Foo Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar. Handsome, physically graceful, able to play tough guy, sexy leading man, heartbreaking apparition, or drag queen, Swayze was a versatile and talented actor. He brought decency and dignity to everything he did.
Even after being diagnosed with cancer, Swayze continued acting. He completed an entire season of a new televisions series, The Beast, which aired on A&E in January, 2009. The series was cancelled after the first season due to Swayze’s failing health.
To quote a line that Sam said to Molly in Ghost: “It’s amazing Molly. The love inside, you take it with you. See ya”.
You made us laugh and cry, made our hearts throb and broke our hearts. You will be missed, Patrick Swayze.

Everyone knows 36 year old actor Paul Walker as “Brian O’Conner” in the fantastically famous film series Fast & Furious, but did you know that Walker began his career at the age of two when he starred in a television commercial for Pampers?
Walker’s first film appearance was a small part in the 1987 movie Monster in the Closet. His first feature film was a co-starring role in the 1998 Disney movie Meet the Deedles. But it was in 2001 that he got the big break when he starred, with Vin Diesel in the first of the Fast & Furious films, and it’s been the good life ever since.
His success seems to be something he enjoys but he was quoted in Flaunt Magazine as saying, “You know, all that really matters is that the people you love are happy and healthy. Everything else is just sprinkles on the sundae”.
Hot, hot, hot and a seemingly loving, caring guy. Couldn’t ask for more than that!

Hugh Laurie, award winning actor on the tremendously popular, award winning television series, House, M. D. is a regular on the BBC Comic Relief charity specials. The US Comic Relief raises funds to aid the homeless and people in need and the UK Comic Relief is committed to helping end poverty and social injustice throughout the world.
A talented musician, proficient on a number of instruments, Laurie co-founded the Band From TV. The band raises money for many charities including Pediatric Epilepsy Project, Save the Children and The Art of Elysium. The Art of Elysium is a charity that encourages working actors, artists, and musicians to volunteer their time and talent in an effort to raise money to help children battling serious medical conditions.
Laurie has, at times, suffered from severe clinical depression and receives regular treatment for the disorder. Because of his own experience with depression much of his charitable involvement is in areas of mental illness. He and his fellow House cast members are selling t-shirts with one of “Greg House’s” favorite truisms: “Everybody Lies”. The profits from the sale of the t-shirts are going to mental health charities, with the National Alliance on Mental Illness as a primary beneficiary.
All of the charities mentioned in this article have websites. If you are interested in helping in any of these causes check out the website.

Hugh Jackman in wax
Is this the real Hugh Jackman? Nope. It’s a wax figure which was commissioned by Twentieth Century Fox to stir up interest in the X-Men Origins: Wolverine DVD and Blueray Disc coming out on September 15th. The figure will make a five-city tour here in the US. Its first stop will be in Washington D. C. (Aug.31-Sept1), then Philadelphia (Sept 2), New York (Sept 3-7) Dallas (Sept 10-11) and, finally, Los Angeles, (Sept 14-15). Hopefully, it will be travelling in a refrigerated vehicle or by the time it arrives in Los Angeles it will be a mere puddle of itself.
One of “Wolverine’s” powers is the ability to rapidly heal himself (itself?) from any wound, disease or toxin. I’m doubtful this particular rendering of the Wolverine would be able to recover from a lighted match.
By the way, did you know that real wolverines are of the weasel family and have a heavyset body, short legs, dark fur, and a bushy tail and are also called a skunk bear. A far cry from the X-Men version. I think Grizzly Adams would have been better suited for the part.
You fans of the X-Men Origins: Wolverine are going to have to wait until sometime in 2011 for the sequel. But all you Hugh Jackman fans will be ecstatic to know he is scheduled to appear in a film co-starring..da da dada..Robert Pattinson. How sexy is that combination?! The film, which is in pre-production, is called Unbound Captives and it is, of all things, a western. Very interesting. A Brit and an Aussie doing an American western. And, for anyone living in, or visiting, New York City Jackman and the newest “James Bond”, Daniel Craig, will be appearing on Broadway in a two man play titled A Steady Rain, with an opening date of September 29th and running through December 6th.
Well, I don’t want to leave you with a waxen Hugh Jackman so feast you eyes below.

LeAnn Rimes and Dean Sheremet

Eddie Cibrian and Brandi Glanville

LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian
LeAnn Rimes is married to Dean Sheremet. Eddie Cibrian is married to Brandi Glanville. Rimes is having a very open affair with Cibrian. Dean Sheremet is moving from the Nashville home he and Rimes shared to New York City to make a fresh start after his seven year marriage to Rimes has crumbled. And he’s taking the dogs with him, thank you very much. Glanville isn’t ready for a fresh start because she needs to vent, and loudly. Rimes and Cibrian will now be able to continue their lives together without those pesky spouses in the way.
Sheremet is keeping a low profile about his failed marriage saying only, “Thanks to everyone for all the support through a very difficult time.”
Glanville, on the other hand, is being very vocal and venomous saying, among other things, “Eddie is a compulsive liar, cheater and a home wrecker. And he has been an absentee father. Eddie’s displays of poor taste have hurt our two children. Eddie may just end up drowning himself in that ‘unfair fishbowl’”. Yowza!
Better to keep quiet and get on with your life or vent your anger publicly? Different strokes for different folks.

Remember? Miami Vice? White suite with the jacket sleeves pushed up? Pastel colored, tight fitting tee shirts, no socks? Oozing sex and virility? Well that was Don Johnson, then.
And…NOW
After Miami Vice, Johnson had another successful run from 1996-2001 as “Inspector Nash Bridges”. Johnson’s career hasn’t been quite as good since then. In 2005 he played an aging, jaded, alcoholic attorney in a very short lived TV show called Just Legal. The run has been pretty much downhill since, with three movies made out of the country. One of them Lange Flate Ballaer II was made in Norway and the title translates to Long Flat Balls II. Sorry to say I missed it or I could explain just exactly what long flat balls are.

A “home video”, made a couple of years ago, showing Eric Dane, his wife Rebecca Gayheart and former teen queen Kari Anne Peniche, high and/or drunk, totally naked and taking turns filming each other is various scenarios somehow ended up on the internet. At one point in the tape Gayheart tells Peniche that the tape needs to be erased and Peniche assures her it will be. Evidently, she forgot.
Anyone who watches television knows Dane as Dr. Mark “McSteamy” Sloan of Grey’s Anatomy. Rebecca Gayheart, possibly best known for a series of Noxzema commercials back in the early 90s and a conviction for vehicular manslaughter in 2001, has been married to Dane since 2004.
Maybe the most controversial of the trio is Peniche who was crowned Miss United States Teen in 2003, stripped of her crown after she stripped for a nude Playboy Magazine spread during her reign (saying there was nothing in her contract about doing nude shoots), treated for sex addiction on Dr. Drew Pinsky”s reality show Celebrity Rehab, was kicked off the show after being accused of punching a camera man and stealing from her roommate and is a rumored Hollywood/madam/escort.
Eric Dane’s lawyer says the tape is “a naked tape, not a sex tape”. He also said it is a “private tape made for my client’s personal use, and nobody has the right to exploit it”. Personally, I agree with him. People’s sex lives are private unless they consensually agree otherwise. Eric Dane and Rebecca Gayheart’s biggest mistake was not necessarily in making the tape, but in choosing to make it in Peniche’s apartment, using her camera, then walking off and leaving it with her.

John Hughes
John Hughes the writer/director who brought us so many hours of movie entertainment died of a heart attack at age 59.
Hughes was noted for his ability to so aptly portray the turmoil and trials of teenage life through his “coming-of-age” films. Among his many writing and directing credits of this genre are Sixteen Candles, Pretty in Pink, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, and, of course, the cult classic The Breakfast Club.
The Breakfast Club shined the spotlight on five, until then, unknown young actors who eventually became referred to as “The Brat Pack”. They were Anthony Michael Hall, Molly Ringwald, Emilio Estevez, Judd Nelson and Ally Sheedy.

Hughes also wrote and/or directed other wonderful films such as Planes, Trains and Automobiles, Uncle Buck, Mr. Mom, Home Alone 1, 2, 3, and 4, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, Weird Science, and Some Kind of Wonderful.
In recent years, Hughes has withdrawn from the film business to be with his family and to maintain a 600-acre alfalfa farm in northern Illinois. He is survived by Nancy, his high school sweetheart and wife of 39 years, two sons and four grandchildren.

Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham
Lewis Carroll’s wonderful, whimsical, wacky tale, Alice in Wonderland, was published in 1865. Now, almost 145 years later, the wonderful, whimsical, wacky mind of Tim Burton, will bring it to life in his film Alice in Wonderland.
The ” Mad Hatter” will be portrayed by Johnny Depp, who is himself somewhat of a mad hatter. The film will also feature Helena Bonham Carter as the” Red Queen”, and British actor, Michael Sheen as the “White Rabbit”. Nineteen- year-old Australian actress, Mia Wasikowska, will be “Alice”.
The first film version of Alice was a silent film made in 1903 and directed by Cecil M. Hepworth. “Alice” was played by May Clark. The last time it was brought to the big screen was a 1951 as a somewhat watered-down, animated Disney version. Burton’s creative mastery is sure to bring us the story as though it was straight from the mind of Lewis Carroll himself.
Alice in Wonderland is filmed in 3-D and will be released in March of 2010.

Comic actor Johan Hill (Superbad, Evan Almighty, Funny People) is a victim of Twitter identity theft. In a recent appearance on The David Letterman Show Hill said he has never been on Twitter nor would he ever be.
Some unadulterated pond scum from Texas named John has been impersonating Hill and sending offensive messages about various celebs. People have mistakenly believed it was the real Jonah Hill which would definitely have the possibility of turning public opinion against him.
On a recent appearance on The David Letterman Show he said the impersonator has ”like 100,000″ followers and people keep coming up to Hill and telling him they follow him on Twitter. Hill stated that one day someone said to him, “Man, things are getting pretty heated in that feud between you and (director) Jon Favreau”. Seems the fake Hill has been trash talking about Favreau, a director the real Hill says he would like to work with someday.
Letterman asked Hill (the real one) if he knew a lot about computers. His answer: “No. I don’t. I use like a quill with ink to write everything”.
Hope Hill (the real one) finds Hill (the fake one) and causes him to impersonate a sponge. This might be a heads-up to celebrities to watch for Twitter twits who think it’s funny to screw with someone’s reputation.
