Hugh Jackman in wax

Is this the real Hugh Jackman?  Nope.  It’s a wax figure which was commissioned by Twentieth Century Fox to stir up interest in the X-Men Origins:  Wolverine DVD and Blueray Disc coming out on September 15th.  The figure will make a five-city tour here in the US.  Its first stop will be in Washington D. C. (Aug.31-Sept1), then Philadelphia (Sept 2), New York (Sept 3-7) Dallas (Sept 10-11) and, finally, Los Angeles, (Sept 14-15).  Hopefully, it will be travelling in a refrigerated vehicle or by the time it arrives in Los Angeles it will be a mere puddle of itself.
One of “Wolverine’s” powers is the ability to rapidly heal himself (itself?) from any wound, disease or toxin.  I’m doubtful this particular rendering of the Wolverine would be able to recover from a lighted match. 
By the way, did you know that real wolverines are of the weasel family and have a heavyset body, short legs, dark fur, and a bushy tail and are also called a skunk bear. A far cry from the X-Men version.  I think Grizzly Adams would have been better suited for the part.
You fans of the X-Men Origins:  Wolverine are going to have to wait until sometime in 2011 for the sequel.  But all you Hugh Jackman fans will be ecstatic to know he is scheduled to appear in a film co-starring..da da dada..Robert Pattinson.  How sexy is that combination?!  The film, which is in pre-production, is called Unbound Captives and it is, of all things, a western.  Very interesting.  A Brit and an Aussie doing an American western.  And, for anyone living in, or visiting,  New York City Jackman and the newest “James Bond”,  Daniel Craig, will be appearing on Broadway in a two man play titled  A Steady Rain,  with an opening date of September 29th and running through December 6th.
Well, I  don’t want to leave you with a waxen Hugh Jackman so feast you eyes below.

Forks High School

The picture above is the high school in Forks, Washington where much of the action takes place in the box office blockbuster film Twilight, starring heartthrob Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.
For $300 a couple a few lucky fans were able to attend a weekend event called: Summer School in Forks:  A Twilight Symposium. They were given a tour of the town  and took classes regarding the novel at Forks High. The highlight of the event was an actual prom in the Forks High Gym. Who could forget Edward holding Bella as they danced at the prom?  Also in attendance at the dance were some of the more popular “Twilight” acts including the Mitch Hansen Band, the Bella Cullen Project and the Hillywood Players.  The Hillywood Players did a parody video of the film which became a huge hit on YouTube.  They attended the prom dressed as Bella, Jasper, Alice and Edward.  “Edward”, shirt open revealing his chest, walked among the couples sniffing for a potential mate and finally chose his dancing partner. The weekend culminated in a “graduation ceremony” where those who attended were given “diplomas”.
The tiny town of Forks, population 3000, had been dependent on the lumber industry for its income.  With the decline of the industry the town was struggling to stay afloat.  That is, until Twilight came to Forks. Author Stephenie Meyer chose Forks as the locale for the series and, subsequently, the films were shot there.  The town now has a thriving tourist industry which dosen’t seem in any danger of declining.
Business are cashing in on the Twilight craze.  On shop sells lollipops that say “Bite Me” and bumper stickers that read “Warning: I Drive Like A Cullen”.  A Chinese restaurant has a “Twilight Dinner” on its menu and there is another restaurant called Bella Italia and you can’t turn a corner without bumping into a cardboard cutout of Edward and Bella.   Every month, thousands of people now drive through the town to experience the “Twilight” setting.
Congratulations to Stephenie Meyer for writing the series that has given millions of readers countless hours of entertainment and for helping a town come back from its own twilight.

Trying to leave his set trailer in New York City yesterday, Robert Pattinson was absolutely mobbed by out of hand fans. At the time, there was just one police officer present and it was soon apparent that it was going to take more muscle to get him safely to the film set of the movie Pattinson is currently working on (tentatively titled Remember Me). Finally, a few muscled security guards linked arms and got him through the mob. The mega star says he finds his fame ‘bizarre’. Hopefully he will be able to adjust to it because, with three more installments in the Twilight Saga and other movies he is working on, it would seem his star will be burning brightly for some time.
New Moon, the second installment of the Twilight Saga is set for release on November 20, 2009.

As though is wouldn’t be freaky enough to play semi-human vampire “Edward Cullen” in the box office sensation Twilight, Robert Pattinson is getting a little freaked because of all the attention he is getting. Paparazzi are all over the handsome actor and he fears it will cause problems in future relationships. He is quoted as saying, “I’m always really worried about ruining their lives, especially with people that aren’t famous. I’m kind of a paranoid wreck”.
Considering the behavior of some of today’s young and famous (or infamous) it is certainly refreshing to hear of someone as young and suddenly famous as Pattinson caring about his effect on others. Hooray for Pattinson.

After a couple of months of speculation, it is confirmed that Dakota Fanning will be joining Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in the next installation of the Stephanie Meyer Twilight franchise, New Moon.

Fanning, 15,  will play Jane, a member of the ancient Italian vampire clan the Volturi. If you’ve read the books, Fanning’s angelic look is perfect for the part.

Movies Opening Today

Twilight
The hugely anticipated movie based on the books of Stephanie Meyer hits theaters today. The movie’s plot focuses on odd girl out Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) who moves to a new town in Washington. Classmate Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) piques her interest. Cullen, though, is a vampire.

Directed by Catherine Hardwicke, the movie also featured Billy Burke, Ashlee Greene, Nikki Reed, Peter Facinelli and Jackson Rathbone.
