Fashion Failure Friday-Diane Keaton

Diana-Keaton- charlie chaplin

Diane Keaton. Buster Keaton. Are they related?

I think Diane Keaton is great.  I love all of her movies.  But with few exceptions, her wardrobe choices for premieres and red carpet appearance are very…hmmm…different.  She seems such a classy and elegant lady you would think she would dress the part.
But then, I remember that Woody Allen evidently wrote the part of “Annie Hall”  based on an “idealized” version of Keaton and somehow it all makes perfect sense.

Charitable Celebs-Katherine Heigl

katherine heigl and dog

Katherine Heigl and her mother Nancy founded the Jason Debus Heigl Foundaton in memory of Jason Heigl, Nancy’s son and Katherine’s brother who was killed in a car accident in 1986 when he was fifteen years old. The website states that:  “ Jason loved all animals, especially dogs, cats, and monkeys, and lived his short life extending compassion and kindness to all creatures”.
The foundation’s goal is to “ raise awareness of inhumane treatment of animals, support non-profit rescue efforts, assist homeless shelter animals with rescue and medical treatment, fund and encourage free spay/neuter clinics, place rescue dogs and cats in loving homes, and educate the public about the horrors of puppy mills and dog fighting”.  To donate to this worthy cause go to: www.jasonheiglfoundation.com.
Heigl supports many charities including:  AIDS Healthcare Foundation, GLAAD, Donate Life America and Operation of Hope.
Thank you Katherine Heigl for your care and concern for others!

Katherine Heigl and Josh Kelley With Baby Daughter Naleigh

katherine-heigl-baby-300

It has taken a few months, but Katherine Heigl and her musiician husband Josh Kelley are now able to hold the darling 10 month old Korean baby girl they adopted.  They have named her Nancy Leigh after Heigl’s mother, Nancy and her sister, Margaret Leigh.  The little girl has been nicknamed Naleigh.
Naleigh is a special needs child which, according to Heigl, made the adoption process move much faster.  Heigl said:  “They wanted to get her to us as quickly as possible”.
Adoption is not a new idea for Heigl.  She has always been set on adopting a child and even asked Kelley is he was ok with the idea before they became engaged.  She said:  “I just wanted to make sure that I was marrying a guy who understood that this was going to have to happen.”
Heigl’s sister, Meg, is also Korean and was adopted by Heigl’s parents before Heigl was born.

Not Even Nipples Can Save Jennifer Connelly’s Appearance

jennifer connelly

From the top of her head to the tip of her toes Jennifer Connelly is a mess.  Her hair looks straggly, greasy and badly in need of styling.  If it weren’t for the semi-transparent section where her boobs are she wouldn’t have attracted any attention, at all.  Her legs are unattractive and her bony knees make them look even worse.  But, her black nail polish on her stubby nails does match the black shoes that look too big.
Just because the rich and famous have lots of money doesn’t necessarily mean they have lots of sense.

Jennifer Grey Then and Now

jennifer grey then now

In 1986, Jennifer Grey landed the role of “Jeanie Bueller”, the angry sister, in the film Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.  The following year she scored big in Dirty Dancing as “Frances ‘Baby’ Houseman” in Dirty Dancing.
After making the film, Grey had a nose job that changed her looks the the extent that some of her friends didn’t recognize her. After the surgery her career took a downhill slide.  Grey regrets having her look changed saying:  “I went in the operating room a celebrity – and came out anonymous.  It was like being in a witness protection program or being invisible”.
Her original look was what made her so appealing and changing it made her just another face in the crowd.

Before There Was Paris There Was Zsa Zsa

zsa-zsa-gabor 2

Zsa Zsa Gabor The First Paris Hilton

Zsa Zsa Gabor became famous for her notoriety long before there was Paris Hilton.  Gabor, just like Hilton, was food for the Hollywood gossip grist mills before she had any accomplishments, or what would be considered accomplishments based on any real definition of the word. Gabor was always sexy and risqué by innuendo unlike Hilton who is just blatantly out there.  And, interestingly, Gabor is Hilton’s great-aunt, having married Conrad Hilton, founder of the Hilton Hotels chain and Paris Hilton’s great-uncle.  Although Zsa Zsa and Paris aren’t blood relatives they are certainly birds of a feather.
Zsa Zsa established herself as a C-list actress but her real claim to fame was her serial marriages.  She was married nine times, Conrad Hilton being her second husband.  Her first was Burhan Asaf Belge (1937-1941) then Hilton (1942-1947) followed by actor George Sanders (1949-1954), Herbert Hutner (1962-March 3, 1966), Joshua S. Cosden, Jr. (March 6, 1966-October, 1967), Jack Ryan, a designer who created the image of the Barbie doll (January 1976-August 24, 1976), Michael O’Hara, her attorney in her divorce from Ryan, (August 27, 1976-sometime in 1983) Felipe de Alba (April 13, 1983-April 14, 1983 marriage annulled because divorce from O’Hara not final) and last Frederic Prinz von Anhalt (August 14, 1986-Present).  von Anhalt was 38 and Gabor 69 at the time of their marriage.
After living a life of marriage, divorce, run-ins with the law (slapped a cop who pulled her over in 1989; sued for libel by actress Elke Sommer in 1993) Gabor was seriously injured in a 2002 auto accident and suffered a stroke in 2003.  At the age of 92,  she and von Anhalt are still married and living in Beverly Hills.
If Paris Hilton lives to that ripe old age I wonder what her biography will read like.

Fashion Failure Friday-Sandra Bullock

sandra-bullock-lanvin-dress-movie-premiere

Sandra Bullock

This is so wrong from the hair to the black booties.  Sandra Bullock is one of my favorites and I’ve seen her dressed beautifully in the past.  But this.  The hair says “Just finished with my daily workout”.  The dress?  Oh my! Whoever designed it must have had some left over pieces of fabric and thought:  “To hell with it,  I’m not throwing this stuff away.  I’ll just throw it together and see what happens”.  Well, this is what happened.  As far as the bootlettes are concerned, bare feet would look better.
That far off, vacant stare makes me think she was abducted by aliens and they dressed her in this getup and beamed her to the red carpet.

Mariska Hargitay Surprised Fanatic Fan

Mariska Hargitay

Mariska Hargitay

Justine Faeth, fanatic “Law & Order: Special Victim’s Unit” fan, used sleuthing skills she learned from watching her favorite character “Detective Oliva Benson”, played by Mariska Hargitay, to help police catch a suspected serial robber in New York.
Faeth was interviewed by Matt Lauer and Ann Curry of the “Today” show and told them what happened.  Evidently, a man entered the office of City Lights Media where Faeth worked and told her he had an idea for a show.  Faeth told him he needed an appointment and gave him some e-mail addresses he could use to set one up in the interest of getting rid of him. In an effort to stall, the intruder said he felt sick and needed a glass of water.  Faeth sent him to the kitchen to get his own water and, when he finally departed he left a tissue and the cup he used on Faeth’s desk.
It wasn’t long before Faeth discovered there were items missing from a co-worker’s purse.  Thinking it was the stranger who had come to the office who took rifled the purse, she saved the cup and tissue and called the cops.  They said that DNA was mainly used in major crimes such as rape and murder and didn’t take Faeth’s “evidence”.  However, after the police looked at a surveillance tape they returned to collect the cup and tissue which, fortunately, Faeth had kept.  Her quick thinking led to the arrest of Kevin Moore, a career criminal.
During the interview with Lauer and Curry, Faeth received an on-air call from her “Law & Order” favorite, Mariska Hargitay congratulating her for her role in helping to catch Moore.  Hargitay told Faeth:  “I am impressed! I better watch out for my job!”.

Courtney Thorne-Smith-More Than Just Perky Nips

courtney-thorne-smith-nips

Courtney Thorne Smith

OK.  We ran several pictures of Courtney Thorne-Smith’s stand up nips a while back and just knew you needed to see this picture one more time.
But, seriously, Thorne-Smith has been acting since way back in 1986 when she played the lead role in a summer release comedy called Welcome to 18.  Since then, in addition to guest appearances on several television series episodes, she has had long running roles in Melrose Place in which she played “Allison Parker” from 1992-1997, as “Georgia Thomas”, the wife of character Billy Thomas, Ally McBeal’s “only true love” from 1997-2002 and for 8 years as “Cheryl” “Jim’s” wife on According to Jim.
According To Jim was cancelled at the end of its 8th season.  In the final episode “Jim”, played  by James Belush, chokes on a shrimp puff and spends some time being dead.  Don’t know what’s in store for Thorne-Smith next but, as talented as she is, she will do just fine.  And just so you know that Courtney Thorne-Smith is more than just perky nipples we leave you with a beautiful, sexy but somewhat more modest image.

Writer, Producer, Director John Hughes Dead At 59

john hughes

John Hughes

John Hughes the writer/director who brought us so many hours of movie entertainment died of a heart attack at age 59.
Hughes was noted for his ability to so aptly portray the turmoil and trials of teenage life through his “coming-of-age” films.  Among his many writing and directing credits of this genre are Sixteen Candles, Pretty in Pink,  Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, and, of course, the cult classic The Breakfast Club.
The Breakfast Club shined the spotlight on five, until then, unknown young actors who eventually became referred to as “The Brat Pack”.   They were Anthony Michael Hall, Molly Ringwald, Emilio Estevez, Judd Nelson and Ally Sheedy.

The-Breakfast-Club

Hughes also wrote and/or directed other wonderful films such as Planes, Trains and Automobiles, Uncle Buck, Mr. Mom, Home Alone 1, 2, 3, and 4, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, Weird Science, and Some Kind of Wonderful.
In recent years, Hughes has withdrawn from the film business to be with his family and to maintain a 600-acre alfalfa farm in northern Illinois.  He is survived by Nancy, his high school sweetheart and wife of 39 years, two sons and four grandchildren.
