American Idol runner-up, Adam Lambert, who was openly gay in his personal life, was hesitant to make it known to the public in general during his competition on the show. He was tempted to make a public statement regarding his sexuality after the Idol finale but said he wanted to wait for the opportunity to do an interview with Rolling Stone Magazine to set the record straight and let it be known what direction he will take as both artist and celebrity. Although Lambert didn’t speak openly about his sexuality during his time on American Idol he didn’t go out of his way to hide it. Is it possible that the powers that be on Idol have a “don’t ask, don’t tell” mentality?
Because of his “out there” style Lambert thought he had a better chance of being taken seriously if he had some legitimate exposure with which to build a solid base and he felt that appearing on American Idol would help him achieve this. And it surely did! Adam Lambert may have been the “runner-up” in the Idol finale (which came as a huge surprise) but he has a large following and a promising future in music.

Will pictures of American Idol contestant Adam Lambert kissing another guy and dressed in drag hurt his chances? Probably. Idol audiences tend to shy away from anything racy, such as season six’s racy pics of Antonella Barba and season 2′s Frenchie Davis topless pics (she was disqualified.)

While it’s likely Lambert was hoping to take home the record contract THEN get a People magazine cover announcing his sexuality, looks like someone beat him to the punch. He may just have to settle for 12th place and the front page of VoteForTheWorst.com.

In case you were wondering, former American Idol singer Kelly Clarkson says she’s not a lesbian. I’m not sure who asked, but she let us all know this week.

“I get that all the time. People are like ‘Are you secretly a lesbian? Because I’d really love it.’ Lesbians tell it to me all the time,” Clarkson told AOL’s entertainment blog PopEater.

“I’m like, ‘I’m glad it works for you and I wish I liked women like that because oftentimes men are very hard for me, but I happen to like boys.’ I could never be a lesbian. I would never want to date someone like myself, ever.”

I personaly haven’t heard of a rash of lesbians pinning over Clarkson, but you never know.

Goodspeed had apparently been obsessed the the singer/judge for 17 years and twice auditioned for the show. Police suspect suicide.

Abdul was aware of the obsession as Goodspeed had written threatening letters, left Abdul packages and tried to contact her. Good speed wrote about her experiences as a contestant on her MySpace blog.
