David Duchovny , former star of the long running X-Files series became the star of a new Showtime series titled Californication. He plays “Hank Moody” a novelist with writer’s block, relationship problems with his ex-girlfriend and his daughter and an inability to control his appetite for drugs, alcohol and sex. Through all his addictions he still tries to prove to his family that he can be a good, caring man.
Contrary to the the old saying that “art imitates life” in Duchovny’s case the reverse seems to be true. Back in August of 2008 he voluntarily checked into rehab seeking treatment for sex addiction. He first talked publicly about his addiction in the mid 1990s when X-Files was at the height of success. At that time, he said he was seeking treatment.
In the fall of 2008 Duchovny and Tea Leoni, his wife of eleven years, made an announcement that they had been separated for several months. Admirably, for the sake of their children, the couple remain close. Recently they were seen having fun as a family on a Malibu beach. Maybe they will be able to reunite for good sometime in the future.
