Grey’s Anatomy Cast Drama Better Than This Season’s Scripts
This season’s episodes of Grey’s Anatomy leave me saying, the the word of Meredith Grey, “Seriously?”
Let’s take a look at the scandals going on both in Hollywood an Seattle Grace.
Last year, Katherine Heigl withdrew her name from Emmy consideration because she felt she wasn’t give award-worthy material that season. So apparently the writers felt having her character, Izzy, have sex with the ghost of her dead fiance Denny (played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan) would recitfy that. Or maybe it was just revenge.
Heigl’s best buddy T.R. Knight, who plays Dr. George O’Malley on the show, has just let it be known that he wants out of his contract and is working with producers on an exit strategy. T.R. Knight made headlines last year when Isaiah Washington reportedly called him a faggot on the set. Knight, who was not out of the closet at that point, decided to come out to the world and battle Washington on the talk shows. Isaiah Washington was subsequently fired from the show.
With T.R. Knight bailing on Grey’s, will Katherine Heigl be far behind? She’s ceratinly getting the movie roles and was just named the 5th highest paid actress in Hollywood.
Then we have the Sara Ramirez/Brooke Smith scandal when Grey’s took what was a decent story line involving Callie (Sara Ramirez) and Hahn (Brooke Smith) exploring their sexuality. For reasons never disclosed, producers suddenly decided to put the brakes on that story line, fired Brooke Smith, and pretty much left Dr. Hahn missing in action.
Grey’s then brought on Melissa George to play a possible new love interest for Callie, but in a recent interview she says she’s only doing 8 episodes. Don’t get too invested in THAT story line.
The scandals apparently spill over to spin-offs too, as Kate Walsh (who plays Dr. Addison Montgomery on Private Practice) has revealed that her husband Alex Young has filed for divorce.
Who knows who will be left at Seattle Grace by the end of the season but it seems ABC’s hot drama of last year is definitely seeing a cooling off trend.
