Madonna was looking to adopt a second child from Malawi, a 4-year-old girl living in an orphanage after her teenage mother died in childbirth. The judge Thursday rejected her petition because of “residency” issues.
“The decision came down to residency requirement and the fact that the judge believes she was being well taken care of in the orphanage,” said Zione Ntaba, a spokeswoman for the Malawi Justice Department. 
Madonna has 3 other kids, including one she adpoted from Malawi in 2006. She’s been accused of using her fame and wealth to circumvent the legal system to adopt. Activists feel that because the child is in their orphanage system and public school system, she’s in good hands….
“This is a triumph for the children of Malawi,” said Mavuto Bamusi, the national coordinator of Malawi Human Rights Consultative Committee.
Ok…this is Madonna we’re talking about. Mega-millionaire, seems to be a loving mom to her 3 other children. She’s done a ton for the country of Malawi including making a documentary (I Am Because We Are) and starting a non-profit group to help the needy. I just can’t imagine people protesting to stop a child living in poverty from being adopted by someone with so much to give. And then cheering the decision.
