Resolution 600 Nixed By Pelosi

Whether you love Nancy Pelosi, hate Nancy Pelosi, agree with her politically, disagree with her politically or don’t even know who she is, I’m pretty sure you would agree with her decision not to support Resolution 600. In case you missed it, Sheila Jackson-Lee announced at the Jackson memorial, tribute, concert, lollapalooza, shameful spending of tax-payer money (take your pick) that she intended to introduce a resolution to declare Michael Jackson an “American legend, musical icon and world humanitarian”. Said resolution being 600.
Seems the idea of this resolution was causing concern among House Democrat because of the controversies surrounding Jackson. We already know there is dissention in the Republican camp (no surprise there).
Speaker Pelosi says she doesn’t see the need for a resolution. She continued by saying, “A resolution, I think, would open up to contrary views to..that are not necessary at this time to be expressed in association with a resolution whose purpose is quite different”.
Okay. I don’t really understand what she said either. But I’m pretty sure it boils down to the fact that there is a large population of the voting public who are not Michael Jackson fans for various reasons and would not embrace such a resolution or any member of congress who backed it.
Well, Speaker Pelosi, you got your point across even if it was not eloquently stated. As for me, I’m waiting for someone to lobby congress to have Jackson’s head added to the Presidents on Mt. Rushmore. Looks like there might be enough room to squeeze him in between Teddy Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln.
