According to Perez Hilton, the MISS USA pageant judge who asked Carrie Prejean the “question heard ’round the world”, she gave “an awful, awful answer”. Here is what Hilton says Prejean should have said: “Well, if I was Miss California, with half a brain, I would have said ‘hmmm, Perez, that is a great question. That’s a very hot topic in our country right now. I think that’s a question that each state should decide for themselves because that’s how our forefathers designed our government, you know, because the states rule themselves and then there’s certain laws that are federal’”.
Too bad Hilton wasn’t allowed to ask and answer his own question. Well, actually it appears he was because the above is a direct quote. Whether you favor same sex marriage or not, it would seem, in this case at least, that honesty is not the best policy.
